Preity Zinta: Talented Actress, Alluring TV Host | Photos | Movies List

Like Bollywood actresses Tara Sharma, Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor, talented actress Preity Zinta started out as a commercial model. She made her first product endorsement as an image model in 1996 for Perk Chocolates. Her charmed performance in the Liril soap ad, with her cute dimpled smile (see photo, below) was warmly received by audiences.

Soon, Preity Zinta made debuted in the 1988 film "Dil Se" by Mani Ratnam. But it was through the box-office hit drama "Kya Kehna", in 2000, that she was recognized by critics, eventhough the movie tackled the serious and controversial issues of teenage pregnancy and single parenthood. Her role as Priya Bakshi got her a nomination for the Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. She did not win that year, however. She finally won the said award in 2003 for "Kal Ho Naa Ho".

But if you think that she is but a beauty without brains, let me remind you that she was a commentator for BBC News Online, who has written opinionated but well-informed columns on various social issues. In 2011, she was the TV host for Guinness World Records - Ab India Todega on Colors Channel. She is a really talented and alluring woman (see below photo)!

Preity Zinta was born on January 31, 1975 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. She was romantically linked to Ness Wadia from 2005 to 2009), which means keeps the hopes up for all her aspiring suitors. Now approaching mid-life, there are rumors that she underwent plastic surgery. But I personally think that, even if these fantastic stories are true, the plain truth remains that is very talented and still enormously beautiful!

Glamorous Intelligent Desi La-Di-Dah Girl Tara Sharma | Photos | Movies List

British Indian model-actress Tara Sharma, most popularly known as the "la-di-dah" girl, is an intelligent and pretty Desi (see photo below)! But before we feature her profile, let us first explain the term "desi" for the benefit of our non-Indian readers especially because Bollywood has already reached worldwide popularity.

According to Merriam and Webster dictionary, the term is both an adjective (local or indigenous) and a noun (someone who is of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi birth or descent who lives abroad). Some people use the said word to also include the peoples from Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives.

Tara Sharma easily passes the requirements to be called a beautiful "desi" (see above photo), after all she was born on January 11, 1977 in Mumbai to an Indian father (Partap) and British mother (Susan) and has lived abroad to graduate from the London School of Economics for her Management course.

She began her career as a model (for beauty/cosmetics/make-up brand Garnier and Lakme but it was her commercial with Pepsi (with actor Shah Rukh Khan) which propelled her into the movie business. She is married to husband Roopak Saluja in 2007; they have two kids.

Charming, Graceful Heartthrob Madhuri Dixit-Nene | Photos | Movies List

Madhuri Dixit-Nene was born on May 15, 1967 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is not only universally-accepted as one of the best actresses in Bollywood (particularly of Hindi films) but also one of its prettiest, see photo below:

Gorgeous Model-Actress Gayatri Joshi | Videos | Photos | Movie List

In 1999, Gayatri Joshi was among the five finalists of the Femina Miss India beauty contest; little did she know that, eventhough she would not win in the pageant, her exposure to the public would launch her career as a Bollywood actress and model.

Born on March 20, 1977, the gorgeous Gayatri is blessed not only with an exotic pretty face with beautiful round hazel-brown eyes but also with a commanding height at 1.75 meters (5 foot, 9 inches)! See photo below:

Miss Joshi (now married to Vikas Oberoi) knows the value of perseverance and hard work. She was a working student in college. While in school, she modeled for Pond's, Sunsilk Fruitamin, LG, Hyundai (with Shahrukh Khan), Godrej and Bombay Dyeing.

Unfortunately for her screen fans, she became inactive in Bollywood after her marriage to Vikas Oberoi in August 27, 2005. If only Vikas was my brother, I would have a really hot and sexy bhabi! Joke! She is now a gorgeous mother of two boys.

Bengali Actress Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Star Rani Mukherji (Mukherjee) | Photos | Movies List

Born on March 21, 1978 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Rani Mukherji (also Mukherjee) is a Bengali actress who has been active in the Indian film industry since the mid-90's.

Acting and good looks runs in her blood (see photo below). Her parents are Bengali Brahmins, who are associated with Bollywood. Her father Ram Mukherjee was a film director and is one of the founders of the Filmalaya Studios. Her mom - Krishna Mukherjee - was a former playback singer (like Sunidhi Chauhan). Bollywood star Kajol and scriptwriter and film director Ayan Mukherji are her paternal cousins.

Her debut came in 1996 with the movie "Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat". But it was not until 1998 that Rani’s acting talent was recognized through the international blocbuster "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (KKHH), where she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. But the fame and recognition that Rani enjoys today comes from her hard work. Her devotion to the acting profession is evident most specifically in the 2005 film "Black", which earned her the Filmfare and Filmfare Critics awards for best actress.

First Indian Miss Universe Sushmita Sen | Photos | Movies List

Born on November 19, 1975 in Hyderabad, Andra Pradesh, beauty queen and actress Sushmita Sen was the first Indian to win the Miss Universe title in 1994. She was born to Shuber and Shubra Sen. Her father was a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander while her mother is a jewelry designer and owner of a Dubai-based store.

She was crowned Miss Universe not only by her good looks and tall and proportionally curvaceous figure as seen in the pageant's swimsuit and evening gown competitions (in her prime, in photo below).

Her response to the "question and answer" portion of the contest was the clincher. To the common question: What is the essence of a woman? Sushmita Sen replied: "Being a woman by itself is a gift of God which all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman and the woman is the one who shares and shows a man what love, caring, and sharing is all about. That's the essence of a woman".

Born on November 1, 1973 in Mumbai, Mangalore, Karnataka, photogenic stunner Aishwarya Rai was crowned Miss World in 1994 and first runner-up in the Miss India beauty pageant in the same year.
