Nokia has unveiled its new Nokia N900 mobile phone. The Nokia N900 runs on the open source, Linux based Maemo OS software and provides a PC-like experience on a mobile device.

The Nokia N900 has a ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 3.5 inch WVGA touch-sensitive display with 800 × 480 pixel resolution, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera, dual LED flash with Carl Zeiss optics, up to 1GB application memory, 32GB of storage, expandable up to 48GB using a microSD card, OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration, fast internet connectivity with 10/2 HSPA and WLAN, Mozilla browser, Adobe Flash(TM) 9.4 support.

The Nokia N900 also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and navigation Integrated GPS, pre-loaded Ovi Maps application and automatic geotagging.

The Maemo software complements Nokia's other software platforms like Symbian, which runs Nokia's smartphones. The screen can be personalized by the user with favorite applications, shortcuts and widgets.

The Nokia N900 will be available in select markets from October 2009 for 500 Euros (around $712).
